4-year-old girl wandered streets when mom left apartment for prostitution

A 4-year-old girl found wandering the streets of Connecticut Tuesday morning had been left home alone while her mother turned tricks for cash, authorities said.
Shi'Day Nicks, 22, said she left out sandwiches and snacks for her little girl and put cartoons on TV before slipping out of her Hartford apartment for a sexual rendezvous as her daughter slept.
Instead of staying in, the daughter dressed herself and walked out.
A passing woman spotted the child and alerted authorities. About three hours after she left, the mother returned home and was greeted by police who informed her that her child was in their care.
The mother met with a man named Richard, whom she had known for six months. The court documents said he would pay Shi'Day for sexual favors. Richard said he picked up Shi'Day and drove her to his home. She allegedly provided sex for $230. Despite being together for three hours, however, Shi'Day told police that the man never paid her. He eventually drove her back home.'

Pregnant mother charged after toddler found unresponsive in home filled with dead, dying animals

An 8-month-pregnant woman in Laurens County, South Carolina faces numerous charges after a 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive and badly bruised in a filthy home filled with dozens of dead and dying animals.

Deputies arrived to find the boy unresponsive with bruises on his face, neck, back and other areas, according to Lt. Scott Franklin.

Deputies interviewed the mother, 25-year-old Savanah Victoria Morgan, who originally told them that the boy had choked while eating chips. Franklin said Morgan later changed her story and claimed that she dropped the child. Doctors said the child may have been dropped, but his injuries were too severe for that to be all that happened, Franklin said.

Morgan has been charged with child abuse as well as two counts each of child neglect. She's also charged with animal cruelty.

Franklin said the 2-year-old was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he remained in the intensive care unit on Wednesday.

Deputies said two other young children, ages one and two, were living in the home, which was filled with trash, animal feces and in serious disrepair.

Franklin said what was most shocking was the number of dead and dying animals that were being kept in containers in the home. “I’ve never seen anything like it in my 20 years doing this,” Franklin said.

Animal Control was called to the scene and seized about 90 animals, including cats, dogs, rodents, reptiles and tarantulas.

According to an incident report, deputies found six dead spiders, 10 dead pythons and 48 dead rats, among other dead and living animals.

Two of the surviving dogs were taken to the Laurens County Animal Shelter.

Morgan's other children have been placed in the custody of the state Department of Social Services (DSS).

Franklin said Wednesday that more charges will likely be filed in the case. A judge set Morgan's bond at $50,000 for child abuse to inflict great bodily injury, $10,000 for each child neglect charge and $5,000 bond on animal cruelty.

Woman confesses to killing six of her newborns

In February a Utah woman pleaded guilty to killing six of her newborn children and hiding the bodies in her garage, and faces life in prison.

Megan Huntsman, 39, was charged with six counts of first-degree felony murder.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Buhman told the judge that prosecutors also will write a letter to the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole about Huntsman's cooperation in the investigation after the children's bodies were discovered in her garage 10 months earlier.

"We'd be surprised if she ever gets out of prison," despite concessions on the part of the prosecution, Buhman said. "There are probably very few people at the Utah State Prison that are responsible for six murders."

Huntsman is accused of killing the six infants shortly after birth during the period from Jan. 1, 1996, to Dec. 31, 2006.

"The defendant gave birth to six children," Buhman told the judge. "Those children were born alive. Immediately after each child's birth, she either choked or smothered the child to death."

Huntsman's long-kept secret began to unravel when her now-estranged husband, Darren West — who had spent eight years in prison for drug crimes before being released into a  halfway house — was retrieving some of his belongings at their home.

Inside the garage, West found the remains of a baby. Alerted to the grisly discovery, police later found six more infant corpses.

Huntsman allegedly told investigators that she had killed six of the infants, while a seventh child was stillborn.

West and Huntsman have three living children together, all daughters, now ages 13 to 20.

Police have said that Huntsman used methamphetamine heavily and that her drug addiction was a motive for her crimes.

Mother abandoned quadriplegic son with cerebral palsy in woods

Police signed an arrest warrant for a Philadelphia woman after she allegedly left her quadriplegic son with cerebral palsy alone in the woods for over five days with nothing but a blanket and a Bible.

Nyia Parler, 41, is accused of leaving her 21-year-old son in a wooded area before traveling to Maryland to visit her boyfriend.

After several days of cold temperatures and rain, the victim was found 100-feet into the woods around 9 p.m. Friday, according to Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker. Investigators say the victim likely would have died if not for the man who spotted him while passing by.

Rescuers took the man to a hospital where he is being treated for a cut on his back, dehydration, malnutrition and exposure to the weather. He is currently in stable condition.

"A lot of things could've happened out there," Walker said. "Obviously he's in the middle of a wooded area. You have wild animals out there. You never know what's going to happen."

Several of his aunts are by his bedside, said police, who added the relatives are being interviewed about his medical history and his mother. Officials describe the victim as "non-verbal" and completely dependent on others for his care.

"What we've learned so far is that the 21-year-old child lives with his mother, completely dependent on mom as a result of his condition," Walker said. "She also has a 16-year-old son who is staying with other family members."

Mother arrested for murdering infant son in restaurant

According to police and witnesses, “soulless” Latisha Fisher killed her 20-month-old son in the bathroom of a Manhattan burger restaurant last week — and prevented restaurant workers from rescuing the doomed boy.

Then she “blamed the devil,” a police source said.

A woman walked into the bathroom and saw the mother holding her hand on young Gavriel's mouth, but Fisher told her: “I put my hand over his mouth to put him to sleep.”

The mother locked herself in the bathroom and customers and employees became worried when the line to the toilets grew long. When workers forced their way inside, the child was unconscious and foaming at the mouth.

They said Fisher tried to stop the restaurant staff from performing CPR on the limp toddler.

“I would describe her as soulless,” a law enforcement official said when asked if the mom seemed distraught. “She put her hand over his mouth and smothered him.” Another sickened police source said: “She is a lunatic. She is crazy.”

Gavriel was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died, cops said. The mother was taken into custody at the scene.

The boy's maternal grandmother said, “He was such a happy baby.”

My mother used to say that about me.

Drunk mother took 7-year-old son to orgy

A woman from Chartiers Township, PA was accused of driving drunk to an apartment where she planned to have sex with three other people.

Her 7-year-old son was in the car and taken to the orgy.

Police officers were called to an apartment at  about 1 a.m. and found Heather Young shouting in the hallway.

Police said Young, 34, was irate following an argument with another woman inside the apartment when Young began undressing in front of her juvenile son. A man in the apartment told police Young went there to have sex with three people.

Young was drunk and shouting, police said, so she was  handcuffed and escorted to a police car. Police said she spit at an officer and tried to kick him while she was placed in the back seat.

City police charged Young with multiple counts of aggravated assault, indecent exposure, child endangerment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and driving under the influence. The boy was handed over to his father.

Mother arrested for beheading three-month-old daughter

In Ohio, Deasia Watkins, 20, has been charged with aggravated murder in connection with the death of her three-month-old girl.
Cincinnati Police found the 3-month-old dead inside her home. The baby suffered "multiple traumas" according to Hamilton County coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco.
"It's days like this when you really wonder how much evil there is in the world and how we're fighting it,” Sammarco said. “We're trying to do right by this child. We're trying to bring justice for this baby."
Jimmie Graham lives next door to the Watkins household. He was shocked to hear about the baby's death, and watched the investigation unfold Monday.
"She must have been out of her mind," he said of Watkins. "I can't see how somebody could do something like that."

Mother forced daughter to put dead sister in freezer

The saga of a Detroit mother accused of killing two of her children and stuffing their bodies in a freezer took yet another gut-wrenching twist last week.

Court records show that one of Mitchelle Blair's surviving children was forced to place the body of her 13-year-old sister into the freezer.

The bodies of Stephen Berry, 9, and Stoni Blair, 13, were discovered Tuesday after an eviction notice was served on Blair for failing to pay her rent.

Police said Blair has two living children, an 8-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, both of whom knew their siblings had been killed and that the bodies were hidden in the freezer. Both were also beaten by their mother and had scars from being burned and whipped with an extension cord.

The state is trying to terminate the parental rights of two fathers. Neither protected his children from "an unfit home environment where the children were physically abused, tortured and murder," a juvenile court petition said.

Woman arrested for raping two-year-old son with dildo

A Phoenix woman was accused of shoving a vibrator into her two-year-old son's anus in 2013, and surgery was required to remove it.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Rickesha Burns called police, reporting that her son was bleeding from his anus. Burns said she didn't know what happened.

She said she was at a park with her son, and while she was "looking at a text message for about 10 seconds," a boy she didn't know at the park did "something" to her son.

The boy was brought to Phoenix Children's Hospital, and doctors discovered that he has numerous bruises around his anus, a "hanger type" bruise on his hip, and yet another bruise on his neck. Doctors also found an object lodged in his rectum, which appears to be "a vibrator or some other sex toy."

Police interviewed Burns, who still claimed that a teenage boy at a park did it, even though she "believes it is her vibrator," and police found the boy's blood on her shirt. Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes says there was zero evidence that the boy was assaulted at the park.

Court records show that Burns was investigated for child abuse in 2011, but it doesn't appear that criminal charges were ever filed.

The boy had surgery to get the vibrator removed. Police say the injuries around the boy's anus appear to be caused by a hanger, or similar object, being used in an attempt to get the vibrator out.

Mom pleaded not-guilty, but I have not been able to find an update.
